Any ski called The Bar Hopper I had to try and I wasn’t disappointed by Hart Skis sidecountry powder ski. Lightweight due to its bamboo/poplar core, this is a fine ski to put in your pack for a day of pass skiing at Berthoud. 102 mm underfoot gives you plenty of flotation in the pow and its trad sidecut means you can carve when you’re inbounds on the groomed. I found the Hart Bar Hopper to be pretty peppy and it had no problem handling the transition from packed powder to crud when we tested them at Snowbasin, Utah. and as lightweight as it was I was impressed with the Bar Hopper’s performance at speed. The graphics were really eye-catching.
The Hart Bar Hopper is a transitional ski and is great for someone who spends time between resort skiing and sidecountry skiing. If I was going to spend all my time skiing big pow in the true backcountry than I would choose a ski with more surface underfoot.
