I really liked the Liberty Helix. To be honest, I was filming other skiers while I was demoing these skis, and couldn’t concentrate on my own skiing. As a camera operator I need a stable and responsive work platform, the Liberty Helix really fit the bill. Transitioning from fast pursuit to side-slipping so I could get “the” shot the Helix did it all with hardly any effort on my part. They handled the crud and the pow with the Liberty fathead technology (mini-rockered) as they did the groomers. These would make a good “one quiver” ski.
If I was going to ski exclusively on hard pack bumps, then I’d choose something else and if I was going to ski deep pow exclusively (who gets to be that lucky?) then I’d probably go with the Double Helix or the Genome from Liberty’s line.
